Report: Worcester City 0-3 MK Dons Women
MK Dons Women cruise into the Third Round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup...
MK Dons Women booked their place in the Third Round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup following a 3-0 victory away at Worcester City.
Second-half goals from Lucy Wood and Laura Mitchell – the former scoring a brace - saw the Dons progress through to the third round of the prestigious cup competition for the second season in succession.
Head Coach Charlie Bill made one change to his team, with Megan Attenborough returning from injury to take a place in the starting line-up.
The Dons went close on 10 minutes when O’Brien hit the woodwork from Nicola Puddick’s cross. O’Brien was then denied by the Worcester goalkeeper before Attenborough saw a long-range effort fly over the crossbar.
Wood fired wide with the Dons’ final first-half chance but she was able to find the target on 50 minutes, collecting Hannah Warren’s pass and rifling a shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the area, breaking the deadlock and giving her side the lead.
A quarter of an hour later, the lead was doubled through Mitchell, who made no mistake after being played in on goal by Attenborough, finishing confidently past the on-rushing goalkeeper for her ninth of the season.
Wood then made sure of the victory four minutes later, producing an excellent solo goal to double her tally for the afternoon and establishing a three-goal advantage for the Dons.
